The ability to work as a part of a team is one of the most important skills across all industries. However, the development of the skills required to do this well is often overlooked; it is often assumed that people can work well as a part of a team because they have worked in teams in the past. This incorrect assumption can often lead to underperforming or dysfunctional teams. Mastering the skills needed for effective teamwork is as important, if not more important, to students’ futures as mastering any discipline-based skill because teamwork is needed across all industry areas.
This program will challenge students to examine their ability to work as an effective member of a team. They will undertake activities that focus on different aspects of teamwork including collaboration, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution. These activities will help them to identify areas of personal strength and weakness when working as a part of a team. The program also focuses on the importance of taking on different roles within a team, as well as working towards a common goal.
Taking part in this program, students will collaboratively:
- Develop music that requires collaboration and teamwork
- Communicate to achieve a goal
- Problem solve and develop conflict resolution strategies.
